ALULA, THE LARGEST

OPEN-AIR MUSEUM

There is certainly no shortage of superlatives available to describe AlUla, the first archaeological site in Saudi Arabia to be included on the UNESCO World Heritage List.

After the 2019 exhibition at the Institut du monde arabe, a visit to this exceptional location, the largest open-air museum in the world, is a must. It is a journey whose scope is simply breathtaking, largely thanks to the decades of diligent work carried out by Franco-Saudi archaeologists. This cultural cooperation, unprecedented in scale, is based on a long-term commitment to quality, rigor and respect between our two countries. This site of excavations, explorations and innovations is spread out over thousands of kilometers, preserving a grandiose and yet little-known cultural and natural heritage that is unparalleled in our century. It is a dizzying, miracle-like reflection in the waters of our common history.
